Our Story


The Idea Room was founded in 2016 by our Owner and Lead Designer, Kristin Calderon. Kristin is from Henderson, Nevada where she has raised three kids and currently resides with her blended family. In 2010, she started with a Las Vegas Design company where she worked as an interior designer and buyer for six years. She grew confidence in the fact that despite not finishing her degree, clients didn’t care and loved her work. The business grew, and since Kristin was responsible for over 90% of that business, the owners encouraged her to start her own business. To this day, they are her biggest cheerleaders. 

Since 2016, The Idea Room has grown and expanded to over 12 employees with a full-service showroom and boutique offering services from full-service design to furnishing projects and a source to order materials, furniture, and decor. In 2021, we expanded our business to an e-commerce store, Copper & Tweed, that ships our furniture nationwide. 

We are a family centered business. We work hard, but also firmly believe in finding a balance. Our “family first” philosophy is what we credit for our success — without our families’ support, we wouldn’t be able to dedicate ourselves to providing the best designs and resources for our clients and customers. 

We offer a wide variety of services with the overall goals of both finding you the best deals and pricing, and creating timeless designs that will serve and bring joy to you and your family for years to come.
